What exactly does a SPDIF cable do?
i have a port on my computer and i seen the cables for it but i don’t know what it does. what is its purpose?
It carries Digital Audio, as a series of zeros and ones, usually to a surround sound receiver.
It can handle 2 channel PCM, or up to 5.1 channel Dolby or DTS surround.
TosLink is the same thing, but only using fiber optic instead of electric.
